The placenta is an amazing disposable organ that grows for the sole purpose of nourishing & sustaining fetal life during pregnancy.

It is the only disposable organ that the body creates. Amazing! It is also the only organ that is compatible with two sets of blood types & genes.

It produces hormones necessary to sustain pregnancy & healthy fetal development.

The maternal blood supply carries oxygen, nutrients, & food to the fetus through the umbilical cord that is inserted into the placenta on the fetal side. However, the maternal & fetal blood never mix.

The baby’s waste products are absorbed into the umbilical cord & passed through the placenta into the mother’s bloodstream. Her body disposes of the waste.

However, this does not mean the placenta is a waste organ as it is regularly renewing the blood that circulates to allow a clean transfer.

It acts a a protective filter keeping most bacteria out & passing on antibodies from the mother to the fetus to help keep the baby healthy for some months after birth.

No, placenta consumption is not FDA approved however neither are vitamins.

The process in which a mother consumes her placenta is called placentophagia & has been occurring for hundreds of years however very few studies have been done on the benefits. There have however been very few reports of negative outcomes.

Anecdotal evidence suggests that placenta consumption may help with:

You have a choice of either bovine gelatin or vegetable cellulose capsules.

Placenta salve can be used to heal caesarean section incisions after the wound is closed. It can lessen scarring, itching, & discomfort. It can be used 3 days postpartum for hemorrhoids & perineal tearing. Salves are great for burns, diaper rash, eczema, sunburn, & minor skin irritations. This salve is safe for babies as long as there are no known skin allergies. You’ll want to test a small area of the skin before using it in larger amounts.

Ingredients: Organic whole herb infused jojoba oil, placenta powder, & beeswax.

As a folk herbalist, I make many whole herb infused oils for myself & my clients. Some of my favorites are frankincense, rose, calendula, chamomile, plantain, comfrey, & mugwort.

My standard recipe uses calendula oil & comfrey oil for optimal skin care but I’m open to discussing other options.

Ingesting a tincture is another way to reap the physical benefits from the placenta besides capsule form.

Placenta prints & cord keepsakes are beautiful pieces of art that many moms love to have to honor their journey & connection to their babies.

They can be lovely ways to honor the placenta outside of ingestion. I offer a Keepsake Package for $175 for this purpose.

Placenta prints are on watercolor paper using either cord blood only or food dye.

Cord keepsakes are dehydrated umbilical cords usually shaped into a heart or the world LOVE if the cord is particularly long.

I use a HIPAA compliant program called Doulado for contracts, invoicing, & information sharing so your information is kept safe.

If you have a DCDA (dichorionic diamniotic) twin pregnancy this means there are 2 separate placentas! In this case, there would be an additional fee of $100 as I would encapsulate separately.

All other twin pregnancies would share a placenta so the pricing would be what is listed.

The Keepsake Package will be finished in 2-4 days.

The Complete & Encapsulation Packages will be finished in 3-5 days with the exception of the tincture which takes 6 weeks to complete. I can either return the tincture with the rest of the package with instructions for the final step to be completed at 6 weeks (best option) or return to you at a later date.
